How QR Codes Work

The Technology Behind QR Codes
QR (Quick Response) codes are two-dimensional barcodes that can store data in both horizontal and vertical directions. This allows them to hold much more information than traditional barcodes.
When scanned with a smartphone camera or QR reader app, the pattern of black and white squares is decoded into the original information, such as a website URL or text.
Fun fact: QR codes were originally invented in 1994 by the Japanese company Denso Wave to track automobile parts during manufacturing.
